Stella Blu (@StellaBluNH) is a very exciting location for August’s event!  Located at 70 East Pearl Street, Stella Blu has won countless awards: Best New Eatery, Best Bar Menu, Best Bartender, Best Cocktail …in Nashua (HippoPress 2009).  It’s been featured in the Nashua Telegraph and Boston Globe.

“We take Tapas and Small Plates from the ethnic neighborhoods of our Great American Cities. Tapas are not just from Spain anymore! We have modestly priced plates from Little Italy, Asia Town, the Latin Quarter, and Main St. USA.”

Last year’s event at Stella Blu was awesome.  It sold out, too!

July’s “TwHeatup”

For those who braved the humid 95+ degree temps to go to O’Brien’s Sports Bar for the July Tweetup, er, TwHeatup, thank you. sun sweating

The temps didn’t quite reach triple digits on 7/21, but it was super hot and extremely humid outside – and in, unfortunately. O’Brien’s had an air conditioning malfunction before our event. The A/C was working by the time we arrived, but the bar just couldn’t cool off enough.

Nashua area twitterers are a sturdy bunch, though, and about 30 people mixed and mingled. Thank goodness for ice cold drinks! And O’Brien’s had several delicious appetizers for us to snack on. Large potato skins and chicken wings with a couple of dipping sauces got us started.

I think most folks participated in the fun Mad Libs that our sponsor, VisualizeNashua.com, created for the event. There weren’t any tickets for doorprizes this time, entries were the Mad Libs sheets and there were 2 Mad Libs to do.

@VisualizeNashua and @CaseyChesh chose the top two funniest, and then put it to the audience for a vote. The winner, decided by applause, probably because of the ‘chicken-sexer’ (yes, you can miss great things when you don’t go to a Nashua Tweetup!) was @WendyENThomas. She received a $100 gift certificate to Surf. Yum! Wendy, I can be available if no one else is. :)

Second place was a $50 wine and dine downtown gift certificate. The lucky winner for this prize was @RvrHouseCafe. Congrats Kristin!

But that wasn’t the end of the giveaways. Not by a long shot. Other gifts, randomly chosen from the remaining submitted Mad Libs were 2 gift certificates to Thousand Crane, 2 blue tooth devices donated by Hello Direct, 2 tickets for Studio99, and winner’s choice of any language training CD from Transparent Language.

O’Brien’s was a great host on a superhot day that overworked the A/C. If you love sports, they have 11 flat screen TVs throughout the bar, and there is outdoor seating on the nights when the humidity is under control. Definitely worth a visit.

The next Nashua Tweetup is at Stella Blu’s on August 18 – you can sign up through the button on the right.

Hope to see you there for more great conversation, fun, and giveaways.
